I saw an Ike like that a few months ago in an ANACS slab- as messed up as it is, I must say it's a cool error image Nice buy!

Neat, but how can you even tell it is a dime? (ie: title of your pics)

Dime huh? That's really cool! What you think, part of a die cap?

  • that's quite a nugget...
  • How does something like that escape the mint?

It falls through the riddler and goes right into the mint bag.

Just try to get that dime into a parking meter.
There once was a place called
    Camelotimage
  • I like it very much also. That's one error type I've yet to acquire.

    Dog.....

It weighs the same thing as a nirmal dime.

    Geoman.....

You can weigh it to see if that helps. Otherwise, look at the detail really well and compare it to normal coins to see if the design matches (i.e. ber of LIBERTY) Also, you can look at the thickness since part of the rim shows.

    Thanks all. image

If it's scrap I don't see how it can weigh the same as a whole dime.

    Maybe it got mangled???

Or, maybe I did not weigh it correctly? I will weigh it again this week at work.

    I will let you know.

I dont think it's in my error book, wonder what the term would be if it is a whole dime mangled?.Al

If it weighed as much as a dime then it would be about the same size. Maybe you weighed it in grains rather then grams.

How could it be the same size if it was mangled? It could be the same weight..NO?.Al

grip if it had the same amount of metal as a regular dime the dies would have spread it out to about the same size. As you can see it's a piece a scrap just a little longer & wider than the word LIBERTY. Pull a dime from your pocket and look at LIBERTY and you will get an idea of the size of this error.
