    I don't think it's genuine toning... likely to be cleaned/retoned.

    Except for the carbon spots on the shoulder, it looks pretty decent. Wouldn't get crazy on bidding any more up than it's current standing!

  • The toning is real. The coin is no more than AU though. You can see the rub on the high spots of the obverse. They are the areas that are still a brown color...........Ken

    Might be real by the accepted definition of real - happening over a period of time through exposure to chemicals in an album. I've seen similar toning on cents slabbed by the bigs. But, the pattern bothers me a bit. The location of the colors is reversed between the obverse and the reverse.

    And, what's deal with this being a private auction? We're not talking about a high dollar item here. I tend to suspect shill bidding when a seller uses private auctions to sell low value stuff.
