Highest price for non-player card

While perusing past auctions, I came across this:
San Diego Chicken
I got to wondering what the highest price might be for a card from a sports set that featured a non-player or other related official. This would exclude cards like 57T Commissioners and checklists and things like that, but they have to be a part of the set. The Lombardi Trophy hologram from Pro Set wouldn't count, either, though I've heard of copies selling for thousands way back then. There aren't too many of these cards I can think of off-hand, and I'm surprised that even a PSA 10 of the Chicken garnered such bids, more than even HOF players from the same set.
WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

Nothing on ebay

    I've got an uncut sheet with that card on it. At that price, it might be worth me trying to "make" a PSA 10! image

    Seriously, cool card.

    There is a Commissioner Giamatti card in the 1990 Topps set, but I doubt a PSA 10 would pull what the Chicken did. It's just a cool card to have.

    JEB.
  • My guess would be either some of the umpire cards from the 55 Bowman Set (they range from 200+ to 400+ in PSA 9 SMR) or the Ford Frick Commisioner card from the 1959 Topps set. (SMR of $1500 in PSA 9 ) Do not know if these SMR's are even accurate but they would be my guess....

    The last three umpire cards from the 1955 Bowman set to sell in PSA 9 condition all sold (privately) to a fellow collector that I used to deal extensively with. All were 1/1 in PSA 9, and I believe that the lot of three (common) umpire cards sold for $1,600
    I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • I think that I may have an answer to this question;
    There was a private sale late last summer from MintState for a 1966 Topps Funny Ring Checklist PSA 9 NQ pop 1 for $5000.00. That may be the highest to date.
