Ebay fraudulent email going around...warning!

I received this email two days ago, and thought it looked fishy, so I forwarded it on to the proper ebay rep and found out for sure it was not sanctioned by them, so careful. They almost had me, but my gut told me something was wrong.

Here is the email...

    Thanks for the warning. It appears that if you do copy that link into your browser and follow their instructions, they harvest your ebay account info, including your password?

    I have gotten 4 or 5 of those in the past month! I just Delete them. If E-Bays want't to get ahold of me they have my info!
    It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

    I received the same one and forwarded it to eBay for investigation ... just a scheme to get people's passwords, apparently.
  • Seems like I get an email like this at least once a week. I either screw with them and put in a bunch of fake stuff or I just delete it. Depends on my mood. BOB
  • Yep....got that one too and another one even worse! The other one wanted me to not only confirm my ebay username and password......but had a form requesting my bank account numbers AND PIN numbers (Checking AND Savings!), my drivers license number, my social security number, mother's maiden name, full address..........on and on it went! Worse than a rectal exam! image

    eBay was sent a copy (if you get one send it with full headers to spoof@ebay.com)........but i suspect some have actually given out this info and their identities and funds stolen!

    Ebay will NEVER ask for this info in an email.......and IF they ever need something from you will direct you to log in on their site first and then go to the proper place on the site!

  • Morris;
    Like most of these scams, this one appears to now be turned off. Most that I have seen have been from overseas (frequently China). But this one appears to be an address that is owned by Cornell University!
