the grade MS62?

These are my thought's on common certified gold coinage but I think the same is true with some other series. In my opinion there are two distinct types of coins that make the grade of MS62. #1 is the coin with original luster but just too marked up to make it to the grade of MS63. #2 is the coin that looks much better as far as marks go but the luster is just not there because of the light cleaning that removed the luster or hurt it bad enough to limit the grade to MS62 with no chance of getting a grade of 63. In my experience both types are found in the market place equally. Which do you prefer? There is no wrong answer because it is all personal preference but I prefer coin #1 because I think nothing beats original luster. I often see collectors with coin#2 thinking they have a PQ coin because it lacks marks and that they think have a good shot at a 63 but really have no better chance at that grade than coin #1. Let me hear your thoughts on this grade and what it takes to get it. In most of the gold series the grade jump from a 62 to 63 is a big one price wise and in quality. mike

Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you sumthin' . . . . that ain't no optical illusion, it only looks like an optical illusion.
My mind reader refuses to charge me....
I've also seen MS62 coins with nice luster and clean surfaces that were weakly struck. This kind of coin doesn't appeal to me either. So I guess I'd want brilliant luster and a good strike, with the number of contact marks being less important.
