The Phoenix show

The Phoenix show was quite small this year. Maybe 30 tables, mostly raw, and what was slabbed was mostly over graded stuff IMO. There were a couple of tables that had the good stuff (key date- better grade) but was way over me.
For me my main mission was to pickup a $10 Indian. I had a couple of generic gold pieces ($20 & $5) that were recently bagged from NGC. I figured that would be a good start, and it was with a quick $450 sell, NGC bodyback and all. After searching the floor for a couple hours I had seen most of the graded $10 Indians there and one stuck out way above the rest. A silky smooth 1914-D. No discolorations or eye catching faults, so I got it at a honest price. The type set moves on:&gtimage..

Hmmmm. I backed out of going to this at the last minute... (actually had to appear before the judge again for disturbing the peace)......

Sounds like I didn't miss much......

  • That series is probably my favorite business-used gold coin. It looks very nice!
