Look at this nasty PM I got from a member (007) of this board......

RampageRampage Posts: 9,489 ✭✭✭✭✭
There is a new member who is looking to buy IKE dollars. I PMed the person and told him I have several and would be able to get scans of the coins to him "tonight". Everyone who knows me knows I am very busy and I do these things when I can, but always as I promise.

So, I did not send scans that very second. It was 9:10 my time when he PMed me this PM and the night is not over.

So, what do you all think of this?

Richard.

Here is the PM:

PLEASE ANSWER ME IF YOU WANT A CUSTOMER! image

If it were me I would find another buyer. You can sell to whom ever you like. Uncalled for.

    Vin.

I had some mint set IKEs still in the package I was going to sell him. Now he or she is getting this attitude. I don't know what's up with that but I am not selling him or her anything of mine.

I would love to mention his user Id.

I just want to see if he/she comes on this thread first.

  • That's pretty bad. Usually, I assume it may take several days, even if the person promised one day. What is the big deal waiting a bit?

Typical of someone who would type in ALL CAPS anyway.

Richard, Life's too short to tolerate that type of tomfoolery and highjinks.

You don't need buyers like that.

  • Richard,
I wonder who the culprit is. Do I get 007 guesses?

    Rampage,

You might consider the PM in light of the fact that you're dealing with a 10 year old kid.

Unless you are a dealer, I always thought of members on this board as collectors, trying to do each other favors in finding coins for each other. I know I haven't done the best at being immediately responsive to other members, but don't expect that from them either.

Good observation Russ, however if that's true it's time for junior to learn some manners and a great life learning event.... the world does not revolve you (10 yr old).

  • He sounds nothing but trouble. The kind that will put your coin under an atomic microsope to find a reason to send the coin back or get you to lower the price. I sell some on Ebay and when I get an email like that, he automatically goes on my blocked bidder list.

These people are nothing but headaches. Email him back and tell him your not intetested in his business, it will be the best decision you can make. He may buy from you, but every purchase will turn into a real headache.

That's an easy one. "Answer the PM if you want a customer". Obviously, you don't answer the PM & the matter is settled.

    Mr. Feld.

When someone (especially a new member) sends me an undeserving PM like that, then people need to know who these people are before getting involved with them.

The PM was way out of line and I do not tolerate stuff like that.

    Thank you.

Rampage, I'm sorry that kind of person hangs out here. I agree that there is no reason to take that from anyone.

I will repeat something i saw posted here some months ago.

"Have you ever noticed people will speak to you differently on the internet then they do in person"

That statement speaks volumes for people like this.

How many ten year olds does it take to change a lightbulb?

Answer. 100. 1 ten year old to hold the light bulb and 99 others to spin the room. Just to make the world revolves around him!!

    Rampage,
While everone should choose what offends them. I would not been less put off by this respoinse.
I do agree with Mark, that a PM is a PM; Criticisms sent as a personal message were intended to avoid public criticsm. I ,as a personal opinion, would treat them as such.

I agree that the message was rude, but also agree that PM should remain private.
