Glad it all seems to have worked out here, as i was going to suggest a moderate dose of ex-lax to loosen things up and get rid of the grumpyness!

As i have shipped a few items recently myself......$5.00 shipping didn't really seem like a rakin over the coals type of charge. Those i shipped went priority mail, and with insurance and a tracking number on most i about broke even and on 1 package lost a couple bucks.....no biggie.

But if you want to talk about "a raking"......i once was top bidder on two SMALL wall mounted curio cabinets i wanted for some of my netsukes. They ended up at around $100 each.....and the seller wanted $65 EACH to ship them. Now these were about 8-10 lbs each and maybe 2 feet X 18 inches X 4 inces deep. And he didn't want to ship them together, claiming it wouldn't be safe. (more like extracting maximum gouging!). Shipping ground UPS with insurance and combined maybe $25-35 Max.....so he was definately out to boost his bottom line.

Well.....i got warned off by another previous "sucker" that this dimwit ships modern and crappy repros in place of what was presented as an antique and solid wood curio......so i called him on it. (this helpfull ebayer even had previous ended auctions showing the exact same cabinets i was winning bidder on.....woodgrain and stains all matched!)

Though he threatened "neg" on me......i showed him the wisdom of not needing any more negs himself and we just parted company.......never sending payment for what was guarenteed misrepresented junk. That person that warned me off had a LARGE group of also stuck people and their stories, which she was kind enough to send me and helped prove my side.

Funny......safe harber was NO HELP at all when the bait and switch scheme with grossly inflated shipping was presented to them. Seems sellers can charge WHATEVER THEY WANT after an auction if it's not listed ahead of time.....with no reasonable standards or guidelines enforcable by ebay! Safe Harbor my A*S!

That is downright funny! I laughed out loud trying to visualize that poor overweight sap trying to get in and out of his car to make it in to the Post Office. Poor guy, what a shame the goverment is making him sell coins for a living. Does the goverment do that a lot... make people buy and sell coins for a living even if they don't want to?
