Request for market value

I very seldom visit the US coin forum but I now come with a request.

I have a $5 gold eagle 1999, PCGS slabbed MS68. I am thinking of offering this coin for sell and would like some knowledgeable advice on current market price.

If someone has the time to advise me I would truely appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

  • Typically most collectors are looking for MS69 material. So, I would say bullion value.

  • Todd....... thanks for the reply. While I have no idea what you mean by that I just know it is a PCGS certified coin and wondered at the current market prices. I do not feel I can judge ebay sells because of my low experience with ebay.

    Thanks again

  • Todd's comment means that because it is 68, it has very little premium value over the bullion price. Gold is around $320 now so add a small percentage to that and you should have your price range. If it was a PCGS 69, then you would be looking at multiples of that number possibly.

  • Kris....... Thanks a lot. I truely did not understand the reply. I am not a gold collector since my budget does not allow it and I had no idea of the terms Todd had used.

Thank you (and Todd again) for your help......image

  • Todd..... the confusion was totally on my part. I am not a US coin collector in any large way. I have some, not great items, and wanted to possibly sell them off.

It is my problem I did not understand the terms used. Thanks to all for the answers....... much appreciated.
