    Perhaps it is "warm"?

  • There is a gray market for student versions of software. Large software companies want students to use their software so that when they graduate college and get real jobs, they will influence the decision makers into using their software. But, students cannot afford several hundred to a few thousand dollars for the packages. So, the software companies sell the software at rediculously low prices as "student only" versions. In order to buy one of these copies, you are supposed to show a valid student ID.

The gray market area kicks in when the resellers don't actually verify student eligibility. Perhaps that's what this company is offering.

The real question is, can it be registered. Many of these offerings are bootleg copies or warez. If I was you, I'd skip this and get a copy of Photoshop Light.

  • Morris, I too got this email. I already have Photo elements 2.0, which seems to do all that I need, so I sent the Email to my son. I think this offer is legit...they state that manuals are not included, but all other is original. I think it would be a bargain at $44.95.

If the manuals aren't included, that indicates to me that it is bootlegged!

    DON'T REPLY TO THAT EMAIL!

It's a scam to harvest credit card numbers. This has been discussed on some of the photography discussion boards. Someone traced the IP address and it's in Russia. 'nuff said?

I agree with Barry. I am a professor and am well aware of Adobe's academic pricing because it's good for professors as well as students. While Adobe's academic pricing is very good (eg, Illustrator for about $150 which is a list price of about $400) it's not so good to sell Photoshop for $50. So, this offer is either a scam or else a cracked version of Photoshop. I suggest you would want to avoid either possibility.
