New nickel design official now

The president just signed the legislation that authorizes the redesign of the both the obverse and reverse of the Jefferson nickel. It will be interesting to see what the new design is. The Mint will have to hustle as the 2003, 2004 and 2005 coins are to have the changed design.
Images emblematic of the bicentennials of the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark expedition will be the subjects depicted on the “tails” side of the new nickels. The “heads” side will continue to bear images of President Jefferson in recognition of his role in the Louisiana Purchase and the commissioning of the Lewis and Clark expedition.
The above is a direct quote from the press release.
