While getting cash from my credit union today I recieved a $100 star note. The serial # is AG 00463425. Does this note have any collector value?
Thanks, Wayne

What does the star mean?
I save them (call them lucky star bills), but don't know why the star is there.

Found my own answer on the Treasury web site:
"Star notes replace notes from regular production for variety of reasons such as research, testing, or because of damage during production."

Star notes are printed in advance to replace damaged bills as stated above. It's much easier and less time consuming to replace the damaged bills with star notes than it is to go back and reset the serial numbers.
