Wax on front of card - how to handle

Hey guys. I sent a friend of mine some cards for a PSA submission that had some wax on the front. He wasn't aware that you could remove wax from the front of the card with a terry cloth. I told him it's no big deal and is NOT considered an alteration. Just thought I'd come on here and make sure everyone agrees; everyone I know has done so with cards they've had, but I was wondering how the denizens of the board feel about this matter.

    I think it's generally not considered alteration. I've found panty hose work best.

    Most lifestyles are considered OK on this board - as long as they collect cards... image

    And I've found that both belt sander and bench grinder worked - but were a little rough on the card...image

    Woops, wrong board image OK, so I can't think of a way to say it and make it sound clean, but panty hose seem to remove the wax better than anything else I've tried.

    i know a dealer who's wife did this while she had them on.image the wax came off the front of the card but they never was able to get the smile off pete rose face.

    I used panty hose on a wax stain right before submitting it to PSA at a National. It came back an 8 (65 Topps Bob Gibson) so either they didn't notice I used it or didn't care.

    Anyone know how to get wax off the back of a card? -- guess that is a bit trickier although with technology, I would suppose anything is possible.

    would wax on the card, get a qualifier from psa?
    or how much does it affect the grade of the card?

    Mexisar:

    Card with wax on the front or back will typically result in a "ST" qualification from PSA.
    I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    that is what i assumed, i have never tried removing wax since i have always assume i will probably damage the card

    I will try the suggestions and hopefully get good results

    How, precisely, does one use the panty hose in order to remove the wax?
