High Price For a Broadstrike? (Dog97 Special)

I got a nice large broadstrike lincoln in 66RD for 10% of this price. I know I found a deal (or the other bidders missed this coin), but this seams somewhat on the high side.

That seller has been listing 2 1997 PCGS holdered errors for about a year now. He must have spent $100 each relisting them. They are grossly overpriced-in fact I posted them here for discussion long ago.
That year & mm usually sells for around $10 or less. My most expensive 97-P bstrike cost $24 and is graded MS67 Red by the first choice service of error collectors, ANACS.
Carner's coin is a spectacular example of a bstrike. Quite larger than most and the split planchet adds appeal.
Nowhere near worth his asking price of $165-$170 by any margain.

I paid $7.00 for a broadstrike 1999-D Lincoln that looks exactly like the one itsnotjustme just scanned.Mine is raw.

Had a chance to meet Winthrop at a show recently. He is a pretty nice guy, despite what some the forum members have said. Actually, his coins are more reasonably priced than his ebay listings, imo. Go say "hi" to Mr. Carner the next time he is at a show near you......you will be surprised. Very knowledgeable, too.

Dog, the split planchet adds appeal (i.e. market value)? That's interesting as personally I like the look of the unsplit one better.

But either way I'd rather have a pre-1982 because the zinc errors always look to me like they're about 2 days from turning into a corroded mess.
