Its a sad, sad day in Morrisland.

I sold my favorite coin today, the coin that is set as my author icon. A freind of mine bought it...paid my "stupid" price that I just throw out on the coins I really don't want to sell, and he said, "okay!" At least I will get to visit it occasionally.

morris, not to sound like an ass, but if you really didn't want to sell it, you shouldn't have put a price on Abe's head!image But I understand that if you get "stupid" money out of something, it's hard to pass up.....BTW, you DID put visiting rights in writing didn't you??image

That's a drag Morris. It is a good example of why I don't put a price on my icon, I don't want to sell it for any price. Sooner or later someone is willing to pay "stupid" money for it, and then you have to go through withdrawls. image

While I can agree that sometimes we get attached to coins, isn't "stupid money" worth the de-attachment????

I promised not to say how much, but it is considerably multiples of what a normal coin would go for. By the way it is a 1941 P in PCGS MS66RB, that was as flawless as any 67RD I have seen. The reverse was almost as pretty as the obverse.

---The wife requires that all coins are "for sale." Some are just higher priced than others, if you catch my drift. Like my unreal 1963 Jefferson in PR66 that is really a 68dcam and has the most unreal aqua green/blue, purple and pink tone to it. My price is $2k...cause I really don't want to sell it.

I am bummed that it is gone, but it really went to a good home. As far as the visitation rights, not in writing but if he doesn't let me see it once in a while, I'll cut him off from the good stuff,

  • Morris.....don't want you to break your promise and all! But i checked the PCGS price guide and a 1941-P PCGS MS67RD lists for $140, and a MS66RD only $33.......there is no RB listing for this year in MS66RB, but i suspect it might be about 1/2 of the MS66RD price. (maybe $18 or so).

Therefore.......the price was probably around $200.00, which might be considered approx. 12X sheet or so! But even at $300 the total dollars is well within the reach of a whole lot of people!

"Stupid money" just isn't the same protection against a "forced marital sale" when it's still affordable to the masses! Were it a normally $1,000 coin and you offered it at 12X sheet.......mush safer to assume it'll hang around!

    I feel your pain.....
