Is a pedigree worth an extra point to the grading services?

Will the grading services add a half a point or maybe a whole point to a grade if the slab will have the name Bass or Pittman on it? Would it be a form of "market grading" to do that?

Practically, at times, the services have graded coins at least the grade they are catalogued at for the big name collections.
I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

It's my understanding that there are some coins that the grade really doesn't matter. For instance, the 1933 $20 Saint. It would have probably sold for the same price regardless of the holder. The grade may have been inflated in that case because the grading services were competing for the exposure. I'm thinking that the same thing might happen with very rare pedigree coins. I'd probably be very cautious if I were buying one.
