Same cert # in 2 different sets

Does anyone here use the same cert number in two different registry sets? Say in a players basic set as well as the master set ????

Yeah, it's no problem to do that as long as you use the same account.

Funny you mention that. I just finished doing it with the Boggs set. All went through just fine.

  • the individual and Team sets seem to permit multiple use like that with other sets (like my Johnny Bench Basic, and my 68 Reds Team set, and before that my 1968 Regular Set).

You can even do it for more then 2 sets...How about a 1961 Topps Mickey Mantle can be used for 1) Mantle Basic player set. 2) Mantle Master player set. 3) 1961 Topps set. 4) Hall Of Fame registry set. & 5) 1961 Yankees set ...jay
  • The numbers are multiplying rapidly. can you use the same cards for both the basic set and the master set for the same player? Like the Bench Basic and the Bench Master? I would presume that you can, but never checked.

Ummmm......I went a little wild with this concept in the past week.Strictly for personal entertainment while searching and waiting for the last cards to complete the Parent set of all the New sub-sets.

Only thing you have to watch out for is when you have a picture or discussion, you'll have to copy and paste the discussion, reload the picture or they will be lost in the Parent set. Just as long as you put that information and picture up again in the new place you should have no problem with a card in it's first home. But it must be done, or you lose it and create more work for yourself.

Also, upgrades made in one set have to be manually done in the other. For example, you upgrade the Parent set it won't carry over into to your player set.

The MVP and Hall of Fame sets you can use any card of any player,it doesn't have to be a "Rookie card."

All I can say is that in the downtime wating to finish up the Parent set it was fun to find other things to do with the cards,I learned more about the players in the set I collect and kept myself entertained in the process.

Make more sets and have more fun with your collection.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Adding to Jay's previous post...

The same 61 Mantle can also be used in the MVP's 51-present set. 6 different sets.
I'm sure, if someone looks hard enough, they will find a card that will fit into more than 6 sets. Good job for someone with extra time!
That's not me. I feel lucky to respond on this board once or twice a month...

Unfortunately, you cannot register the same card to more than one player set. For example, the 1981 Fleer Triple Threat Card, #645, cannot be registered in both a Pete Rose and a Mike Schmidt set. Same goes for many league leaders, team leaders and other such cards, etc.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
