I lucked out and got a MS70 on my last PCGS submissionimage I have never owned a PCGS of any kind. What would this coin be worth, should I sell it now or keep it in the hopes it will go up in value?

Thanks, Charlie

1,250$. Second only to 1997 Jackie Robinson 5$ which goes for 4,500+++. Hold unless you see the pop.'s rise unporportionately.

........And it's out of the park !! That is truly a low mintage coin.

How does NGC MS70 compare to PCGS MS70 or PCGS MS69 for that matter? Here's an NGC MS70 on eBay - how much will it sell for?

    eBay NGC MS70 - closes Mar-31-07 20:13:05 PDT

This is the only Capitol Visitors Center BU $5 Gold I could find that sold on eBay during the last 30 days. It's a PCGS MS69, which sold on March, 24 2007 for $1475.00 .

    eBay *SOLD*

I've seen raw ones sell in the $1,200 range. I've never seen an auction or a sale of one, but due to the recent strength shown in these, I would guess a pcgs MS70 would be near the 3 G range + or -. Just a guess though as my crystal ball ran out of batteries last night. image

Congrats on a great score! image

Just looking at this thread as I'm thinking about buying some of the better modern commems.

I believe that the LOC Unc. mintage is 6683 while the CVS Unc. mintage is 6761 making the LOC Unc. second to the JR Unc. in mintage, not the CVS although they are very close.

    Very cool in MS.
When these came out, I only had enough in my budget for one or the other. I chose the PROOF image

Ha, that's nothing. When the 2000-W $10 Library coins came out I also chose the proof over ms. That really sucked financially, but still a really nice coin.

Just picked up a CVS $5 Gold UNC. PCGS MS70 for $1795. The price seemed low. Figured with the current state of the econcomy that there would be some good deals out there. Curious as to whether folks think that this was a good buy for the long term hold or not. I'd appreciate any thoughts.

I can't help but to think that some of the First Spouse Golds will come in with some very low mintages and really knock the CVS, LOC and even the Jackie UNCS down a few notches. Who knows?

  • I saw a two coin auction locally for both the capitol visitors ms and pf69 in NGC holders for about $1250....maybe I should have bought them image

edited to add....this thread began in April 2003? What has happened to the value since then? Going down with such a low mintage on

    the ms version? Why???

You answered your own question...NGC holders. BUT even raw that would have been a good price on the two.

Check ebay, I think I saw a pcgs 69 set of both coins for around $1300 BIN. With the 30% live discount, seems like a no brainer if your in the market for that sort of thing.
