  • I went for the modern proof type set back before PCGS changed the set requirements. It used to be 1964 to present, now its 1950 to present. My goal was all DCAM coins, at least 69DCAM except for the 64JFK AH in 66DCAM or better. I made it to the top 5 just below Larry (DaBigKahuna) with roughly half my set consisting of PR70DCAM's and also holding a PR67DCAM AH JFK.

Then the wife and I decided it was time to try for baby number two and the majority of the coins were sold. The difference between an affordable PR69DCAM set and a top five set at the time was roughly $15K.

As for the baby, we're still trying so wish me luck.

ps. Russ's PR68DCAM is to die for!

Would that be immediate success or success in about, oh say, 6-8 months??? image

It was a much bigger chore than writing checks. I had to sneak the slabs out of all the rich folk who bought them to assemble my all-time best set.
  • Good Luck Scott. Don't look at it as a chore. Just a lot of fun that will develop into something serious. imageimage

  • Never having had the honor of a #1 spot, though, I figure it must have you always looking over your shoulder, like being known as the fastest gun in the West - with some kid always gunning for you!! (faster gun = bigger checkbook)
