Does this annoy you too?

One of my eBay searches including descriptions is "PCGS PR70*". I want to see what PR70DCAM stuff is up for auction. Recently, SGS has been posting tons of auctions with keyword spams so that those auctions show up in my search.

Do you find this as annoying as I do?

When I come across sellers who do the keyword spam bit, I just ignore em............even if its a coin I need/want.

  • Correction: recently abon@richnet.net(31929) has been posting lots of SGS stuff. Is this eBay seller the sole proprietor of SGS?
  • I also find it very annoying, so I limit search to titles, not descriptions. If "PCGS" and "70" aren't in the title, then I figure that probably isn't what's for sale.

or you could change the search to

    PCGS PR70* -SGS
  • Thanks! Here's the revised search: pcgs pr70* -sgs -icg -pci -magni*

    Scott,

It looks like you have the search worked out--for this week at least. Your search filter will have to keep up with the keyword spammers just like your e-mail filter has to be continually tweaked for the e-mail spammers.

Another little hint (I think I learned this from from someone else's post but don't recall who): Go to the search by Seller function. In the second box on the page, you can still search by title but EXCLUDE certain sellers. Really great weapon against these guys.

  • GREAT info, Wayne!!! Thanks. I've been buying on eBay for 3 years and didn't know that - that's why I read these board. Have a GREAT weekend!

    redhott,

I think it is relatively new. I'd never noticed it either until I learned it here on the boards awhile back. So, I'm happy to pass it along.
