so what do you folks think of this one?(another seated dollar)

the toning(neutral in my opinion, due to the blotchy nature)IS intriguing, but has it been wiped? My computer is sick, can someone link for me? ebay#3019510772

What does "wiped" mean (new coin jargon to me)?

  • I believe that "wiped" refers to being wiped with a jeweler's cloth or similar item to lightly clean the coin.

Personally, I've never felt comfortable detecting a wipe or subtle light cleaning even in person so I'm no help there. As for the coin in question, although it doesn't jump out at me as a "problem coin" I find the toning a little distracting, especially on the reverse. It looks very similar to some coins a boardmember pulled from a cardboard album. Hopefully someone else can give you better feedback.
