1927-S Merc added. 100% ."New" Pic added

I finally located a nice 27-S. Granted it's only a MS64 non FB, but it gets me to 100%. What a battle to find. When upgrades appear, they'll be added.image JVoege

    John:

    "Its Only a 64 NB"

This is a real tough coin even though its only a 64. The total PCGS population for 64/64FB and higher is 129 and you know this Pop report is screwy. The Fabled 16D has more certified. So IMO only a 64 is a Real Nice find. A under rated date that borders on the ridiculous price wise.

    John,

Congrats on reaching 100%. I just received my '27-s in 64, and I think I like yours better (wanna trade?image) There's a pic below, but I'm going to try to get a better one this weekend.

I agree with Ken that it's an underrated date, which is why I jumped on this one. It's sheer luck that we could find 2 of them within a week.

Good luck with your upgrades. Competition for those early dates is fierce. If you snooze, you lose.

  • Nice grab, Jim. I'll wait to see how it looks in person. It is a hard to find date. The last one I saw was a 65FB for almost $9000. What did you pay for yours? Just curious. John

  • Coin just got here. The picture they took was horrible. This baby is bright, shiny and just a touch of rim toning. I loupe it at 10X and it's almost flawless. Two or three tiny dings on liberty. Bands are weak. About 1/2 FB. I couldn't have asked for a sweeter coin in MS64. I'm now 100% and Mercury1 coins are also added. Big smile week!imageimage

John was that 27S from Northern Nevada Coin ? I just bought a coin from them and I'll bet it will look ten times better than thier photo. The photo made it look real dull for the coin I bought. When you said you were looking for a 27S I completely forgot about these folks.

  • Yep, That's where I got it. Very nice coin I think for the money.

    Congratulations John,

You have made a major milestone. I can't believe how much progress you have made in just a few short months! You have obviously been hunting hard. I can only imagine the satisfaction of looking at a complete set that I own.

I'm to the point that most of the coins I need, I can't afford. It will be real tough going from here on out. The first 75% took a year, the last 25% may take 3-4 years.

Please remember me when you upgrade!

    Regards,
