Strike depth vs detail

Was looking at some older proof Jeffersons tonight and was startled when I held a 64 proof up next to a 92 proof......the new ones are very detailed, but the design seems real flat............I think I like the deeper strikes versus the detail. Your thoughts?

All of the newer coins (90's - now) are flatter then they have been in the past.
Compare any of them to the ones from the 80's.

It is amazing what the engravers can do with a few shallow lines. The newer design details of the main elements remind me of a cartoon cariture. The design elements are actually almost flat.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
