Got attacked on Ebay and it's a board member's fault!

One of our members - Cosmicdebris - posted the roaring lion icon and I had to have the coin.

The Yemen Proof came up on Ebay and I had to put in a bid. It started out at the
right price and stayed there for 3 days.

Then Spokane18 (0) bid twice and boosted it $10.00! If he wants
feedback, I'll give him some.

Now I was down to the last 5 seconds some jerk named "chuckadelphia" sniped
the coin - to no avail - but boosted the cost another $10.00. He has a star by his name and if I
ever find him, he will have a few more.

I got the coin for only twice what it should be, but I won. To celebrate I looted the refrigerator.

    Hey Tade - I'm spokane18 on ebay and like the rest of the posts here - cosmic got me hooked on those darn lions - I haven't won one yet and as a mattter of fact when I see a member bidding I have pulled out. No intent to snipe, honest. Blame it all on cosmic and his incredible eye candy.

    Khayse- those "French Walkers" were in 1-franc and 2-franc denominations, I believe- and that one's a 2-franc. They were from the first decade or so of the 20th century. I think Clankeye's is a 1905.

    I thought the real term was "Sowers" not "French Walkers".

    The French "walker" design has been on the 1/2 Franc since 1965, the 1 and 2 Franc coins since 1898, and the 5 Franc since 1960. You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.

    "The French "walker" design has been on the 1/2 Franc since 1965, the 1 and 2 Franc coins since 1898, and the 5 Franc since 1960.

    According to my Wayte Raymond "Coins of the World" (circa 1953, yeah, I know!) the Sower walking was also on the 50 Centime design beginning in 1897.

    Hmmmmm, back then (1953) you could buy the 2 Francs for 75-cents, the 1 Franc for 35-cents, and the 50 Centimes for 20-cents.

    She is sowing the seeds of discord, obstructionism, lies, and superiority.

    I am boycotting French, German, Russian and Euro coins. Oh yeah, Canadian coins too! I don't want one red cent of mine to go to these countries. When they experience an attack on the scale of 9/11, maybe they'll change their tune. Until then, they can pound sand. There. I feel better!

    I forgot to mention that I ordered the DNA Britannia from the British Royal Mint recently. At least they had the guts to take the high road, unlike Jaques Iraq and Putan and the Nazi.
