Does anyone care that Virginia is getting their way with "THEIR" nickel?

Got my Coin World today & there's an article about the ongoing Virginia "ownership" of the nickel legislation. It's one step closer as it's moved out of the senate committee (with approval) & onto the full senate for a vote. After that it's off to the president. I'm quite annoyed about this & have written my senators about it. Does anyone else care? Has anyone else here written to the almighty lawmakers?

  • Yes, I write to my legislators. Unfortunately, its a one way street. The only time that you hear from them is just before election time...

I wrote to my legislators. They, predictably, ignored me.

I wrote to both senators also.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

the problem is that no other legislator gives a crap to vote against it. and "what's his name" from virginia has probably promised to support their pork programs if they support him.

  • Let's let them put out the new nickel and in 2-3 years everyone can start a campaign to have the law changed before it goes back to the way it was.image

Pennies make dollars, and dollars make slabs!

....inflation must be kicking in again this dollar says spend by Dec. 31 2004!

Very few seem to care. I too am disappointed VA got their way. I didn't think the collectors would sit back and let it happen. Since I don't recall seeing a CW article, or any other, about how many letters Sen Blankety Blank or Rep Who Gives a Chit got from the collecting community, I guess only a few of us really tried to voice our opinions.

So, commem for a couple of years and back to Jefferson/Monticello, abolish the CCCAC and the article made no mention, but part of that bill was to take the Treasurer's ability to change coins in 25 yrs w/o congressional approval. I wonder did that part stay in the language too.
