First Post

Hello all,

I have been reading the posts for the last four months and decided to join this lively forum. I started collecting about 10 years ago but got out of it around 5 years ago. I jumped back in about a year ago and am now putting together a 1955 Topps set in PSA 7. I am about 80% done but the last few high numbers and low pops are hard to find without paying through the nose. I only collect vintage cards ( Pre 1963).

The information content on this board is vast. I have learned enough here to save me many dollars in the future. Since I am almost done with the 1955 set I am looking for a new set to put together. 1953 or 1954? Any suggestions or warnings?

Welcome to the board, Billy. Let's cut to the chase: what do you do for a living? image

Welcome aboard. You may want to check the vintage board for the cards you need or post what you need and alot of times you will get some hits.

    I recommend 1957's. That's a really nice looking set.
  • Joe, my title is a medical physicist. I make sure the machines that deliver radiation treatments work properly and deliver the right dose to the tumor. You probably thought I worked for the NRC. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Those people sometimes get a bad rap.

    Billy,
Cool, that's one part of the industry that's not declining image I'm an engineer at a nuke plant and there is another guy on this board (Robert) that is a contractor for the NRC.

    Billy,

Welcome to the boards!!Always nice to see another vintage guy.I am working on a 56 set.I think that the 54 set would be easier on the wallet. No Mantle and 24 less cards but if you are like me,you will probably be putting both together.Might as well do both at the same time.image

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

As someone who has done the 54's I can say that if you want nice copies...the 54 set is not easy on the wallet. But I think it is one the best looking sets out there from the 50s.
