David Hall Rare Coins: Bargain Central?

Whoa, just stumbled across a less-than-hour-old eBay auction listing from DHRC for a 1975-S PR-69 DCAM Jeff (73/0) with a $99 BIN. This coin has consistently sold in the $170 to $230 price range for the past year. Needless to say, I bought the puppy. I also have acquired some other coins from DHRC in past months that struck me as bargains and all met stated slab grades. What gives? They can't be unaware of going prices, can they? Tossing a bone to the masses? homerun?

It's an inventory liquidation because they know somebody just made 200 more on one submission.

Actually, I find there eBay auctions often are great deals. I think they may get lopsided in inventory. Whenever, I find one of those deals I always ask if they have more. Usually, I pick up two or three more pieces at the same price and spread the shipping charge a bit.

I don't know what a set of 78-02 PR69DC Jeffs should be worth, but DHRC has what appears to be a good BIN price on Ebay. Have considered numerous times getting the set to go with my business strikes.

(now you can tell me what they should be worth!)

I think they have people in charge of their eBay auctions that occasionally make mistakes - don't mention this to homerunhall.

dbldie: That DHRC set is a great bargain ... I bought most of my late Jeff proofs in one fell swoop on a similar offer from DHRC last year, except then it was somewhat cheaper. There was not a dog in the bunch ...

That DHRC set works out to less than $12.50 per coin, plus $6.50 shipping for the whole kaboodle. Individually, you are looking $14 to $20 each (plus shipping) on most of these coins, with some of the late 70s and early 80s periodically going for a bit more. The bigger bucks on the later Jeffs are on the SMS through 75-S coins, although the 76 and 77 have started to increase like mad lately.
