1964 Franklin Half - Does it really exist? - Value?

MrEurekaMrEureka Posts: 24,332 ✭✭✭✭✭
It has LONG been rumored (by reasonably credible sources) to exist.

Two questions:

1. Does it exist?

2. If it exists, what is it worth?

How about a 65 90% Silver Kennedy! Who Knows. Maybe Lucy has one.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Kennedy died in November of 1963 and the dies for the new half were ready to go by december of that year - so unless someone went out of their way to prepare Frankie dies with ultiriour motives, no there wouldn't have been any 64 Frankies.

It is common for the Mint to prepare dies in advance of the date of the coin.

true - but not that far in advance - the only die changes required for the new year would've been adding the date - with all the hubbub over the new half and getting coinage kranked out in droves, it probably would've been very unlikely

I have a 64 Frankie. It's mounted in the same holder as my '64 Peace.

The 64-D Peace dollars are DEFINITELY out there, but that is another story...
