GREAT JOB PCGS! MECHANICAL ERRORS GONE!

I just got word that ALL of the MS68 and MS69 FS and non-FS 1994 and 1997 Jefferson Nickels that erroneous appear as regular issue coins on the pop report will be removed and switched over to SMS coins!!
GREAT JOB PCGS!! You have to start somewhere. I know that many here do not care about Jefferson Nickels, but, many others do care very much! This is a great start! Now, sellers of these obvious mechanical errors can peddle the coins knowing they do not even appear on the pop report. Even the casual collector may see the coins do not exist on the pop report and have a "red flag" to run from the deal.
And, in the wild, far fetched chance that a coin like an MS68 might actually be non-SMS (in my prior dealings with Rick M. over a decade, a single 1965-1967 coin was shown to warrant the non-SMS treatment that was removed) the owner can simply send that 1 in a million coin to PCGS to review it again. WIN-WIN!!
Thank you David Hall and Miles Standish for taking the time to address this issue.

Mitch, you obviously have a very positive attitude. But, let's wait and see when the problem is actually remedied, rather than being told it will be?
if they do they will be satiny or burnished in appearance. They will not look
like the matte proofs.
It's good to see these issues being addressed.
CladKing - While theoretically possible that these dates exist in true MS68 business strikes (forget speaking of MS69), it is exceedingly unlikely IMHO that any of the current pop listings are accurate in MS68 and certainly not in MS69. And, as I mentioned, the one monumental coin that might be non-SMS merely takes being resent to PCGS for reconsideration. And, if the coin were to turn out to be a genuine business strike coin, the owner would be highly rewarded (in the value this action created by making it possible for a REAL MS68 coin to be recognized separate and apart from the "BS" coins) and quite pleased by these actions as well.

I can confirm that it is being worked on with IS this morning.

Keith,
You mean the one that's being auctioned on Teletrade the 23rd of this month?

It's an SMS coin. There were a handful of 1964 SMS sets issued. NGC calls them specimens, as they also do the 1998.

I am admittedly cynical. But it is at least partly because I have seen many representations made, a number of which have not been followed through on, in a timely fashion. I am a believe it, when I see it, sort of coinguy.
If you look at Mitch's initial post to this thread, you will see that it did not give any time frame or indication that the instructions had already been given to the pop report person, etc. (I'm not picking on you Mitch, merely explaining my cynicism).
Even with the additional information, I choose to be appreciative of the corrections AFTER they have been completed. And, I am less inclined to pat someone on the back for doing something now, when it should have been done long ago, even if it's "better late than never" - sorry.
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.

1) directed at someone other than me
or
2) merely you mimicking yourself
or
3) a typo that you repeated twice
or
4) your having trouble speaking today
If I'm wrong, I don't want to know.
You know you shouldn't use such big words (or so many at one time) when talking/writing to me. I'm just a girl you know!
