How easy is it to crack a PCI slab and

substitute another coin in its' place? I have a 1955 DDO that is graded AU 58 by PCI and the slab really appears to have been opened and resealed. I am really worried that I have a counterfeit 1955 DD Cent.

    Welcome, Millennium!
Can you post the picture of the coin? How did you obtain the coin?
  • Well I bought it on eBay, from a dealer that I really trust. After a close inspection, I can't see the small die scratch on the "t" on the reverse and the slab looks to have plastic "smears" on the slab in several areas. My other PCI slabs are not nearly as sloppy on the sealing...I am at work right now, but I will post a pic of the coin later...

pci? dude, a lot of times, you see those slabs cracked open of there own accord. ie, i doubt it takes much effort at all to cleanly open up 1 of those puppies & sub a coin. i have actually seen a lot of those slabs w/ tape holding them together, so you have no idea if the coin in there is the 1 that was actually slabed.

PCI slabs are very easy to open perfectly in half and replace the coin. Do not trust any high price coins in PCI slabs.
