Storage: Your Preference

I am 17, and have been collecting for 6 years, and don't currently make enough money to send my raw coins in to PCGS at $30 a pop.
What is the best way to store raw coins? 2x2s, vinyl flips? I have also heard that it is bad to keep raw high grade Lincolns in my Whitman Classic Album, is that true?
Thanks A Lot,
~Wilson

Anyway - I would say that your best bet for storing raw coins of any type would be intercept shield holders - they're supposed to be the latest and greatest at protecting coins in their natural state. Coinworld magazine also markets a line of slablike holders if you prefer that - whatever you do - protect them and keep collecting!

Franks correct about Intercept Shields. A forum member, Wayne Herndon, offers specials to forum members.
On the cheap, Saflips are my favorites, but only when used with a Kointain. The flip itself is still fairly brittle, and I feel it could damabe Mint states and Proofs. I havent compared the cost of Intercept vs Kointain/Saflip combo.
There is a company called Daymount, which produces a cardboard, self sealing 2x2. They swear there is no cardboard dust. The batch I tried seemed dust free, but I would like more time to see longer term storage results.
I also wouldnt keep MS pennies in any simple cardboard folder.

Quite a trick, at age 34 on inauguration day.

Hang in there kid, 2024 isn't that far away!

As far as the coin storage goes, I use intercept “2x2’s” for your nicest coins. They’re generally about $4 for three. I know Wayne Herndon stocks them. He’s a good dealer, and is well thought of on the boards. Intercept also makes albums but man, they’re craftsmanship leaves a LOT to be desired. They look cheep, feel cheep, and the plastic sleeves don’t fully cover the coins. Not a good deal in my opinion.
For the lesser coins, I use the regular cardboard/plastic 2x2’s. They are NOT a good way to store mint state coins for a long term.
A lot of collectors swear by Capital Plastic holders. They’re very effective at preservation as long as you can get them to close completely. A lot of times, you can look from the side and see clear through to the coin. This is certainly not “air tight.”
Good luck finding your solution.
Best wishes,
David
