Should refractors w/coating be counted seperately?

I would like to hear some opinions from those that collect player sets. In your opinion, should the below listed cards be listed seperately on the registry or should they be considered the same? Below is an example pulled directly from the Junior Seau Master Set.

1999 FINEST GOLD REFRACTOR JUNIOR SEAU
1999 FINEST GOLD REFRACTOR JUNIOR SEAU W/COATING

Furthermore, what about serial numbered cards?

IMO, I feel refractors with coatings should be counted the same as refractors with out coatings. Just like identical cards with different serial numbers are considered the same.

No, I think it's silly to list the same card with ans without coating on the player sets, with the exception of cases where there were pack-issued coating variations (1998 Finest comes to mind).

I'm not sure what you mean by serial numbered cards and refractors being counted as the same card? Are you asking if the sets should include parallels?

  • I am saying that if i have two identically graded cards. just with different serial numbers, they are considered the same card on the registiry, sorry for the confusion.

I think with the massive amount of both w/coating and wo/coating Finest cards that have been graded, there shouldn't be a difference between the two. I actually prefer to have the coating already peeled off when they've been graded because I hate to see "peel off" all over the card and once it's slabbed, it's too late to remove it. I peel all of mine before sending them. I think it looks better.
