I just saw that you completed the Mike Schmidt Basic Set. You have amassed one heck of a Schmitty collection (Basic and Master), and it deserves recognition...
Congrats MS!

Nice job on the set. Must feel nice to have completed the set. If I know you . It will not remain untouched you will upgrade. Not that the set needs it!

You deserve congratulations!!! You REALLY worked hard.
Thanks for sharing your Schmitty Knowledge with all of us.

CHEERS!!
Great Job!! You have put an amazing run together. Every single card graded PSA 9 or better. I think the only other player set that has been completed in PSA 9 or better is Marshal Fogel's Mickey Mantle Basic set. You are in good company! Also over 90% complete on the master set!
Mike Schmidt Basic Set
Thank you for the warm kudos! Greatly appreciated. Putting together the Schmidt set has really kept collecting a lot of fun for me, and I thank you all for noticing and encouraging my sometimes frustrating efforts. But most of all, I really enjoy talking baseball with all of you, and I hope to meet more of you this year at the Nationals!
The master set will continue to be a challenege, especially since I envision it one day being close to 400+ cards. Tracking down the oddball cards can be tough enough as it is -- finding them in submittable grade sometimes becomes a monumental challenge. Nonetheless -- my accomplishment for the weekend is finding a 1985 Topps Mini Mike Schmidt PSA 9 and a 1985 Topps Mini Steve Carlton PSA 8. Those are RARE RARE cards -- and I should now have a Phillies Team Set from that year in very high grade.
Vargha: On the 1955 Bowmans -- I'm trying to track down the dreaded last dozen cards in a condition I deem fit before I unveil that monstrosity to the world.
Thanks all -- I hope that there are more closet Schmidt collectors out there who join the foray. Some of the 1980s issues are decidedly difficult!
Happy Collecting!

Marc,
I'm out of the closet! I registered my Basic set last night and should jump right in at #6. (Hey, they're the only two I currently have graded).
I'll register the master set as well and begin sending some of my collection in for grading (hopefully they'll fall under a special soon).
Nice job on the mini's. I just wish they would grade the maxi's (1985 Topps Big). Now that would be a big chunk of plastic!
Here's the '85 Big and the '73 Rookie PSA 8 side by side, actual size.
JEB.
BTW....for you Mike Schmidt historians out there...didnt this card sell for $1000 or so a couple of months ago...
1975 Topps Mike Schmidt PSA 9
I've noticed the POP is up to 8.....has that number changed much in the last 6 months?
John
Congrats on a nice set of Schmidty cards!
Basilone,
That card has print circles that detract from the overall appearance of the card. There was a Beckett
card graded 8.5 (75 Schmidt) that went for about $50. I think it was BVG and it sold a month ago. I was tempted to pull the trigger but wondered if the card was either cut from a sheet or not. Otherwise,
it looked nice. Marc, I meant to ask you about that card.

The population has increased from six to eight in the last year or so, I believe. It was at five approximately eighteen months ago. I would buy 1975 PSA 9's all day at $600, if they were nice 9's. I did bid $500 on this card, but I really did not like the dot. The centering on the card seems superb -- I just wish sellers would provide a supersize scan for such important/high-dollar cards. I certainly would have bid more if it seemed like the card was in nice shape. It's just hard to tell from a small scan where a print dot is clearly visible in the border.
I will almost definitely try to submit an article to SMR at some point about both the 1955 Bowman set and the Mike Schmidt set. With the 1955 Bowman -- I would like to track down that "Dastardly dozen" of cards I need, and with Mike Schmidt, I would like to Master Registry set to close to stabilize before I put anything together for that.
Thanks again-
MS
I agree....some of these sellers are really costing themselves money with these tiny smaller scans...unless they want to hide something.
John
Congrats you always leave me in awe. I think the best card if I remember corrctly
is the 71 phillies ten totally baffled me.
Did you get my email on the squirt panel.
John-I agree small scans eat your playing craps with some of those scans.
