QDB and his whole team are now operating as "American Numismatic Rarities, LLC" and can be found on the web at Reincarnation of B&M.

You get the same page for www.americannumismaticrarities.com as you do for www.americancoinrarities.com

Their first auction is planned for July 2003 in Baltimore, in conjunction with the ANA (at which Bowers & Merena, the PCGS subsidiary no longer inhabited by any of Dave's team, is the official auctioneer of the convention).

  • I figured that the Yankees would just trade Raul Mondesi and lose that payrole? It surely shouldn't actually cost them a player they'd want to keep?

    Sunnywood,
The recent ad in Coin World didn't mention QDB's name with the rest of them. You sure about that?
  • I was wondering the same thing as Barry. Same location same folks, however Bowers wasn't mentioned. With his departure he may be excluded from competing in the market for a year or two and thus he may be a "consultant". I would bet the David Bowers is affiliated with this new entity. JMHO

  • Yes, I believe he is precluded from competing for now, and possibily from using his name (which would conflict with Bowers & Merena). If I were to venture a guess, educated by previous experience in similar matters, I would bet that the new entity belongs to his son Andrew, possibly in partnership with one or two others, and that QDB is definitely pulling strings behind the scenes, but is legally barred from any visible involvement for now.

  • Well, from the looks of things, the new company has enough clout that they could pull of a pretty impressive effort with the people they have working for them now. Looks to be just about all of the numismatists B&M had, less Mark Borkardt so it would be a pretty easy guess as to who is moving to Louisiana. From what I understand, not very many people are moving with the company. One thing is for sure, I'm not flying to Louisiana for lot viewing......
