MASTRO SELLING OFF HIS #1 1965 SET THRU EBAY

Take a look at the newly listed 1965 PSA cards....Mastro is selling cards from his #1 ranked 1965 set. The amazing thing is that they are being sold thru eBay rather than his auction house!!

here is the link

1965 cards from Mastros Set

Gents...you are not going to find a nicer selection of 1965's on eBay for quite awhile....possibly ever!

He is selling EVERY one of his 1965 cards (598) individually. According to his auction listing all proceeds will go to charity...which is a very generous commitment....simply amazing!

I coulld literally go broke in the seven days...I better not look at ebay for awhile or I will get divorced.

  • Notce that they all end at the exact same time.

You had all better pay up your past due balances at esnipe!
THE FLOGGINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES
  • I was hoping nobody would notice the listings!image That is quite a collection. Even the pop 3 Charlie Smith psa 8 is up for auction. I would love to own that card again. I'm worried about my sniper program sending out that many snipes at once. Will it work? That is an incredible set being auctioned.

All 598 ending at one time.....could be a little over the top....maybe he is a private partner in esnipe.

Im still in shock...for 1965 collectors...this is like finding the motherload.

I am not even married yet (50 days away according to Michele's bridal "registry") but I know how true that statement is.

I think that either eBay or Superior was the way to go on this - absolutely no chance of people crying foul or conflict of interest by putting it in his own auction. Kudos!

I just got an education with Wayne (the professor '65's)
He told me that this isn't Bill Mastro's set like i thought, but it was his right hand man Louis Bollman, who parted ways a few months ago. Thats why its not sold via Mastro in its entirety. I don't know what the charity play is. But hopefully some fresh blood will enter the '65 world and benefit all...jay

Jay,it looks like you won't be chipping away at that stone wall with a plastic spoon anymore and your set will finally be done in the weeks to come.

Let me be the first to pre - congradulate you on the 65 conquest.

ROB - Funny you should mention this. I broke up my set with a 96.6% completion and an 8.00 overall average a few days ago.
There was a variety of reasons, and I have no regrets.

STUMP - By all means jump into the '65 fire, theres plenty out there between the Mastro set and mine alone.

I joked with Wayne on the phone that it would be funny for me to list my 575 PSA's tonight on 5 day auctions beating the Mastro set by 2 days, and diluting the value for both...jay

Hell, just as long as you have no regrets I still can say congrats but obvoiusly for different reasons.

    Jay,

What a bummer, I just start to see the 65's pop a little the last couple
off weeks and now blam, pow, whatever I have 55 65's sitting in the wind.

Now hearing you have yours into play, that makes alot of 65's. Though
I'm only sitting on another 50 or so.

    Jay-

I suggest you give wait a couple of weeks before hitting eBay. Next Saturday would probably not be the best day to end your 1965 auctions....

John - I've already sold parts of the set to known collectors, be it '65, Yankees or player fans. And I have the luxury to place them on my website as well. Now is not the time to eBay them, but who knows what new players will emerge due to the #1 set being piecemealed. Maybe when finances are recouped after the big boy is broken up, my auctions can benefit in a month or so. I like that set alot and really don't nind being stuck with it. I even took about 70 cards out of the set that I personally like that aren't for sale incl all the team cards.

Gator - Although my near complete set and the Mastro masterpiece is now out on the market in 1 form or another, and almost 1200 '65's in 8's or higher abound. Its really not that flooded out there, cause whether its Johnny Klippstein or Harmon Killebrew, there are only 2 of each that we have combined
and more then half of us is in PSA-9's. If a batch of 45 Al Kalines hit the market then they could be had for a song, but 2 shouldn't dent it too much.

Rob - Not only extra toppings, but a side salad too!image ...jay

Oh how true. Might even cause a sparkimage

We shall see, should be fun to watch. This might
go down in history of the biggest string of 8 and 9's
in one year on ebay at once. Lots of salad to be
    eaten.

This is an amazing auction. I have no interest in the '65 set right now, but I have bid on several huge auctions in the past: Superior's 67 auction last December, and MemoryLane's '68 eBay auction about 18 months ago that both ended at the same fixed time in its entirety. I've found that in auctions of this size, there will always be some bargains due to the shear size of this auction. If anyone has deep pockets and can snipe on most or if not all of the cards at modest prices, some will come through since most people only bid their limited budget. Most can only afford to buy 10-20 cards and end up losing more than they expected and afterwards wished they had bid on other cards that went cheap. Good luck to the '65 collectors -- it should be fun!
  • I think the best advice would be to not bid on very many at all due to the chance of spending too much money.image

Great point Wayne! I think it was also very nice of Mastro to end the auction on a holiday weekend! imageimage
  • I think a 3 day auction ending on Christmas morning about 6:00 a.m. would have been the best choice. Then if ensipe and auctionsniper went down for maintenance at that time it would be perfect.
