I guess this coin begs the bigger question: Is the price in line with its scarcity?
    What does the undergrade run?

And, just for grins- no debate necessary, do you believe it would cross into a PCGS 8 holder?

    Nice obverse! How's the reverse?
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!
  • Very nice coin.

But what's with the "RETURNS ALLOWED WITH 5% HASSEL FEE" and
"WILL TAKE PAYPAL BUT SHIPPING CHARGES ARE ADJUSTED" stipulations?

So if I shell out $14,500 and pay with paypal, I'm gonna get reamed on
the shipping? And then, if I don't like the coin and decide to return it, I'll
be paying $725 for the privilege of having looked at it?

    I'll have to pass.

    In a PCGS MS68 holder it would be a 20K ++ coin

    Craig, Turn on your PM.
  • Craig, What a beautiful 47s! Do you happen to have any pictures of the 48s you just crossed? I'm sure many of us here would love to see it.image

  • Craig- Welcome to the forum. Very nice coin you have there. For anyone wishing to see the pictures of the 48-S that Craig crossed to PCGS, do a search on Teletrade. It was sold last year in a NGC 68 holder. An absolutely awesome coin! Maybe someone would be so kind to put a link to the Teletrade sale.

  • Hi Craig and welcome!

I don't really collect Washington quarters - but was just simply
pointing out the listed return policy, which you have now rectified!

There is no doubt that is one cool coin, and if/when you sell it I'm
sure the new owner will be thrilled. It certainly looks like the kind
of coin I would want to view again and again!

    Good luck!

Actually, after viewing the images, I expected the coin to be priced in body parts.

    Awesome looking washington's!

Not sure a 68 is worth that kind of money, but you never know in this market.

I never would have figured the high prices for some other high grade rarities.

    Good Luck selling this coin!

Gorgeous coins you have there and one awesome set in the making. I know that it's only a matter of time before your set lands obove mine and probably in the top 5. It would be great if you could add pictures to your registry set.

Craig and I have bought and sold a few times between us, and they have always been a very friendly and pleasent transactions. He's one 1st class guy.

    Wow, I love those quarters.

I am curious, are 68's limited to beautifully toned examples? Are there any silver 68's blast white?

I have noticed the similar thing in dimes, where besides awesome, it needs awesome color to pop up from that 67 to 68.

PCGS has graded one blast white PCGS-MS68 (1944(d)) and (1) mostly white coin 1939(p). I believe scans of those coins are in my Musuem of Coins on my website. I also have scans of the 1947(s) PCGS-MS68 Wash Quarter - one of my favorite PCGS-MS68 Wash Quarters in existence. image

Craig: Welcome to the boards and I commend you on your quest to build a world class PCGS Wash Quarter collection. You join the ranks of John Benboe, Richard Green, Steve Heller (Registrycoin), Ryan White (to name just a few) and a few other folks who wish to remain anonamous image What do the (4) names mentioned above have in common? They built World Class Wash Quarter collections OF QUALITY SPECIMENS, not plastic.

Looks like a nice coin image

The issue with any of these neat PCGS-MS68 quarters is often times simply the price. This particular 1948(s) would have cost me around $20,000 (with 10% buyers fee included) even if the next bid would have won it for me.
