Any way to safely remove haze from clad proof coins?

  • MS70 works just great for clad or silver.

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I've used MS70 as well. Use a Q-Tip and lightly, very lightly rub the surfaces, then place the coin in a rubbing alcohol mix then flush it under tap water and then rinse it distilled water. Pat it dry and then hit it with compressed air. Make sure all the water is off or you'll leave spots on the mirrors.

Let the coin sit out for awhile before sending it off to PCGS. I've done it and it's work out real well.

    ursabear,

I use good old jewel luster, rinse off with tap water and carefully blot dry. I use mylar 3x3s with no poly bag to send proof coins and unc. moderns in to be submitted. Pcgs recommends that you use these. These mylar bags stopped all of the hazing and toning problems I was have due to the slabing process.

  • Thanks Frattlaw, I've got a 76 silver Ike that needs this treatment. Where do you get MS70? image
