When did this happen?

I know I havent submitted anything in awhile, but when did Lyle Raimer leave PSA? Did he leave the industry or go to a competitor?

Didn't know that on Lyle... too bad - real good guy...

And hey Bob! What are u up to? After you sold off your White Letters through Superior, I've noticed that you've been buying White Letters up through eBay.

Thats kinda like having a garage sale and then going around the neighborhood to see if you can buy back the same stuff from your neighbors!

Actually only 1/2 sold. The other half was reneged on, so I have them back. Most of the ones that sold were won by 1 individual and the cards were lost in shipping so now there are even less White's in 8 and the "incorrect" Pop reports show. I have 10 in 8 plus 8 in 7 so I still have quite a nice group remaining. Plus I picked up 2 new ones and I also have a bunch of doubles.

"lost in shipping".....how does Superior ship???

I believe it was sent Fed Ex, thats how I always get my packages from Superior. Fed Ex lost it not Superior. Everything was insured so I know the buyer was fully compensated.
  • BOB ACTUALLY FEDEX CLAIMED THAT THEY DELIVERED IT WITHOUT A SIGNATURE AND LEFT IT AT THE FRONT DOOR. FACT IS THEY EITHER LEFT IT AT THE WRONG ADDRESS OR SOMEONE TOOK IT WITHIN ONE HOUR OF DELIVERY. THE SECOND SCENARIO IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY--RON

Sounds like you bid up your own lots too high.

    Crease,

That's a NO NO!!image For someone just posting, you are certainly getting off on the wrong foot.I would think seriously about a retraction of your post. There are too many good guys on this board that stick together and as far as I am aware of gaspipe is one of the good guys.If you know gaspipe and are teasing,I would stick in an emotion icon.If you were remotely serious, that kind of comment will ruffle feathers and that is not a good thing to do in this forum.

    Vic
Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.
  • Victor,

I was serious, but I wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers. Superior's rules state that consignors are allowed to bid on their own lots. I assumed the Pipe got a little greedy and bid 'em up a bit too high.
  • Crease,

I don't post here often, but something I do when I post, something that anyone making any kind of accusation against someone else should feel obligated to do, is post my name.

People who post anonymously about other people have ZERO credibility with me and I tend to disregard any accusations they make, regardless of how truthful they may or may not actually be.

If your real name is actually Crease, I apologize deeply and ask you to ignore the above statements. Otherwise, sign your name to your posts if you expect people to listen to what you are saying or take you seriously at all.

    Crease

You dont even know Bob and your popping off like your his ex. Gaspipe is a stand up guy with a whole butt load of knowledge on the 69 set. He never attacks anyone and is always ready to offer up his knowledge and his cards.

    Wow!

CU should do some background checks before allowing new members to post here.

    Crease,

That's a great way to introduce yourself to the largest group of buyers/sellers/traders of PSA graded cards. If you have any desire to obtain vintage PSA graded cards (or sell them), it's a good thing you are anonymous here. I would suggest abandoning the "Crease" ID and starting a new one, forget this ever happened, and post something positive under a new ID. This is the only CU message board (sports card related) left that you don't have to scroll through countless posts that are either childish, irrelevant, antogonistic, or spam. Please don't post again if your posts are going to fall into one or more of those categories.

Thanks in advance. Good luck with your decision.

    JEB.
  • And just to clarify, Superior does not allow consignors to bid on their own auctions.

    Crease,

Gaspipe has sold me low pop '69s at well below market price. He's a top notch seller and bidder. Your accusations are completely baseless and should be retracted immediately.
  • Buckwheat,

I believe you are mistaken. I have consigned two groups of cards to Superior and I was allowed to bid on my own auctions both times. If Superior has recently changed its policy, then who is to prevent a friend or colleague from bidding instead?

That being said, I am not accusing anyone of anything. Yet at the same time, it is certainly possible that "crease" is quite accurate. I know that you and several others here who have probably never consigned anything to Superior, think that "crease" is making a rash judgment, but aren't you just as guilty by professing to know something when you do not have the complete set of facts?

Why don't we ask Gaspipe himself?

Gaspipe, did you or someone bidding on your behalf place bids on any of the 1969 White Letters that went unsold?

I think you totally missed the point. I dont believe crease knows and therefore should shut his pie hole about something or someone he knows nothing about. I or the others didnt say one word about knowing or not knowing so you need to get the facts straight also. As far as asking Bob email him. That may be the proper venue for this not on an open forum.

  • I don't know gaspipe very well. However, I've heard wonderful things about him from people I consider to be extremely honest and credible personalities. These same people would hang anyone who doesn't meet that standard. If they say gaspipe is the real deal...believe it. They know him.

That being said.......gaspipe and the rest of us are wasting our time even entertaining these silly questions. If crease and florist question his credibility beyond the single question that you've all answered already.....they can simply not do business with gaspipe. God knows gaspipe isn't missing anything image

  • wow! you guys sure are uptight! what's the big deal? either gaspipe bid on his own auctions or he didn't? let's not put words in his mouth. why don't we let him answer for himself?

gaspipe is one of the good guys who doesn't try to squeeze every penny out of you.i highly doubt that he would even consider bidding on his own auctions(first i don't get the empression he does this for the money)(and if he did his 69 set would have gone for alot more) i am glad to have done many deals with him on and off ebay. i can still remember my first email to him. i asked if he had any 76's and his response was,i have about 50,000, i grew up across the street from the topps plant in brooklyn. i guess he didn't have to ride his bike very farimage

How did "when did Lyle leave PSA" turn into this subject. No matter what I said this person would only believe what he wants too. I'm sure there are other consignors who have had there lots returned for the same reason or for lots that were returned because the items were not approved after receipt. Superior allows returns on items that are above a certain $ amount. The Whites sell regularly on Ebay for $300-$500 each time they show up , I actually would have done better if I sold them on Ebay or been very close. I also wouldnt of had to wait 45 days to get paid either. So the response is obvious. If he wants to purchase them for the bid prices I'll sell them for that. I'll even discount them 5%. Enough said.
Ron, I didnt want to get into to much detail on the Fed Ex thing, thats why I didnt explain exactly what happened. I'm looking out for those serial #'s though.
  • Bob,

I was also disappointed as I heard Lyle was gone. Though I never met hm
in person he was very helpful and understanding with a few problems that
    I have experienced. Top notch!!!!!!!

I thought I remember Peter Ma being touted

    Did I dream that?

I never met Peter so I dont know him. Lyle was the best. Always put up with my pain in the ass complaints. Got shipments completed and shipped when promised. Thats a big loss for PSA in my opinion.

    Florist,
If you were allowed to bid on your auctions, then I am mistaken. I was basing my statement on Chris Porter's note in the thread below. If you bid under others names, or had friends bid, then there is really no way for Superior to stop that. But you would still have to pay the commission if you won. BTW, I have consigned lots to the Superior auction, but I have never bid on my own lots.
I have no knowledge of whether Bob bid on his own auctions or not, but to come on a public board and say that he did so without any evidence is behavior that is out of bounds in my opinion.
