Nope, no Frankies Lucy. I completed my set before they put FBL on the labels. I just never have got around to having them reholdered with the designation. Maybe one of these days...

I hate to hear about those two artificial colors. Do you agree with them? What does that 1901 nickel look like? You have some great nickels overall in that lot. What coins in there do you think are the truly special ones?

I graded the 1901 Liberty nickel as a solid 63, didn't think it would make 64. I know next to nothing about Jefferson nickels, they belong to a friend of mine who obviously knows his Jeffersons. I thought both the commemorative halves were 64/65 liners, so one for two is good. On the 44-D Walker, I thought it was a 63/64 liner, that was the biggest surprise of the submission. The only surprise of the Morgans was the 84-CC which I graded as 64PL. Looks like they are still tight on the PL designation, and bumped the grade instead. The rest of the Morgans came back pretty close to what I figured, and they are all toned, so I did well on them. On the two coins that were BB'ed that I broke out of old PCI holders, I will probably give those a shot at NGC. I really believe they are naturally toned.

Nice submission ... They got to yours four days quicker than mine (arrived Jan. 31), so perhaps they are beginning to gain a little ...

  • That 1939 66FS is a real catch! Nice results. The 1901 is great too.

Is the 1901 a reverse of 1900 or reverse of 1902? Ever since I sold my reverse of '02 I have not seen another.

No explanation on the BB's.. have not got the coins back yet.

On the 1901 nickel, I wouldn't know. I am not into nickels, these belong to a friend of mine. I will ask though, and you may want to let me know what to look for. When I get the coins back, I will take some large pictures of them.

K6AZ- Your friend with the nickels has some VERY nice coins. He is to be congratulated. Some very nice results there. Good eye!

Hope you will share some of the nicer toned Morgans. image

Here are the reverse images showing the differences. Note the distance from the top of the V to the bottom of the stalk.

This is the reverse of 1900:

This is the reverse of 1902:

OK, gotcha on the reverses, that is a pretty easy variety to spot. I'll let you know when I get the coins back.

DCAM- you've got it. I will be posting pictures of those, since most of them will be up for sale once I get them back.
