Can Coins Crack like a Dinner Plate?

I bought this Hawaii Quater off a bid board (cheap) and I have never seen a coin crack like this.
I have seen splits and lamination, but not a crack.
It has been poorly repaired, but still I like it.

Looks like a planchet defect. It's not terribly unusual to see these. Looks like
the strip was folded over and rolled. Probably this was the end of the strip which
had been at the top of the melt as evidenced by the split in the foldover.

This does not always reduce the value of a coin and in some cases might raise it.
