1967 Topps Stanton Set Purchase

Just bought the Stanton set on the registry. Its currently 11 but will drop back a tad as Acowa and Ejguru will share in the purchase with me. Alan is taking the one card he needs and Eric will be grabing about 40 or so for his set. I will take the rest including the Seaver 9. I finnaly will take the plunge into the 67's and will attack this set over the rest of the year and into next.. Wayne if you are out there email me.

Dave - congrats on a great purchase. I was going to be the "fourth" on the purchase, but $$ and my upcoming wedding played a huge factor. Tell E I said YO, and look forward to hanging with him (and you ???) at the upcoming Fort.

    Dave,

I got copied on the email from Glen stating that the set shipped today. I am so grateful that you partnered with Eric & I. The Hamilton is the last PSA 8 common card I need for my set. I plan to "open up the set" for viewing on the registry once I add the card.

Again, thanks for everything. Quite honestly, I wasn't sure that I could complete the set without taking a 7 filler on a few cards. Thanks to you and Eric...I am buying the first round at the National.

Please let me know if there are any 1967's that I can help you with off my psasetbuilder.com site. I will also be happy to host any duplicates that you might want to sell. Here's a link:

BTW - I have contacted PSA to get them to delete Stanton's set so that we can register the cards...you might want to do the same.

    Regards,

    Alan

  • Welcome Dave, I was the original 3rd but family issues came into play. Thanks again Eric & Alan for understanding.
    Good luck with your set.

Thanks for the help on this deal I will be forever grateful to both you and Eric as I have wanted for a while to go into the 67's. I believe its one of topps finest. I am glad you are now finished in 8 congrats on that and hope to see all at the national.

    Hey wait a minute ...... !
I thought "I" was the original "third" ....

I passed because the cards were sight-unseen - and as many of you might have gathered from previous posts, (most recently by Dan Markel) I am a total centering NUT ....

Looks like I have to fill in the remaining 150+ cards for my set .... one by one - buy hey, isn't that the fun of "the chase"image

    Don't feel bad Steve...

It never made it down to me!!

And here I was just happy that a set above me had disappeared! Little did I know that I'd soon have to compete with Dave Jacobs!

Always willing to con-fab with fellow collectors -
I live 15 minutes from the expo center .....

In fact, Eric Sanders and I have met somewhat routinely now - Friday before the show opens at whatever local hotel he intends to crash at - to trade / talk submissions / and generally talk about how all the local college teams in philly tend to kick fordham's butt....

This deal was on again/off again so many times that it made my head spin...I had no idea that there was this much interest. The deal was a perfect opportunity if you were going to actually build the set...but I wasn't sure how it would work out as a break up proposition. The break up value would have hinged on the centering of the superstar cards...

  • Dang, that Stanton set has 18 of the 41 cards I need in 8 to complete. I opened up the comm. line, but Dave's holding firm.

That's OK. At least I won't have to compete with him on nearly half of the last 41 cards I need.

Alan, I checked your site and don't need any of those. I'm having trouble focusing after staring at those Red/White/Blue stripes, though.image
