    << <i>WE ESTIMATE THE AUCTION TO BRING IN $20,000 TO $25,000 >>

So they don't know what is included but they think it will bring 20-25k, seems like a little bit of Ebay hype goin' on!

paigon not no more - Russ bumped you up.

I may have to start selling junk lots like that - get the adventurers wanting "sealed proof sets",
    "unopened GSA boxes"

I am sure it will bring 20K to 25K in a week but give YOU the opportunity to buy it for only 15K today!!!!

The guys had to pay for reserve listing fee, how high do you think they put it?

Would someone pay $100 for a pre-auction notice on the 'slim' chance someone would bid?

I have manyof those things listed as well (but not in an attic safe)

old stamps (unused plate blocks - good for about face for mailing), first day covers, wheaties, even 1776 bicentennial JFK's

Let's start a contest and prdict how high it will close -

my guess $52.31 (which may go up as auction continues)
  • Think about the logic behind any auction that includes unsearched coins.

*Let's see, I found this jar/can/trunk/vault/railroad car/dump truck/oil tanker full of old coins. I think I'll auction them off without looking through them. There may be a gold mine in those coins but that's a risk I'm willing to take so that I can sell them off as soon as possible and at a discount.*

    Please. Unsearched = junk coins!
  • Wish they had locked Geraldo in there and thrown away the key. image

i threw down $10. i based that amount on the fact that 99.99999999999% of all stamps are worth a tiny fraction over face value.

basically, if you don't get the upside-down airplane, you're screwed.

well, it does say "greatest deal on earth". that's a pretty bold statement but i'm sure you can return it if it doesn't meet that description.

You mean does the country he's fleeing to after he collects the $15,000 have any extradition laws? I doubt it.

This MUST be a legitimate auction. Why else would someone sell the whole vault for $15,000 when they just stated that it will bring in $20,000 to $25,000? Brilliant business people. Let's launch an attack on the seller and bury him with humiliating email messages!
  • RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭
    Hey Eddie,

    Where have you been?

    Russ, NCNE
  • RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭
Hehe, that auction has over 400 hits on the counter. This seller is probably rubbing his hands together in anticipation, thinking he's coming up on a major score.image

Not humiliating questions - but thoughtful questions.

I am going to ask if I get the vault as well, what kind is it, and is it a combination or key and are they included. If they get enough questions, they will not be able to take the ?50 pictures? to get it ready for Sunday.

This person has not been selling coins, it is possible they have no idea what they have and selling on commission so do not care.

  • I guess it was a matter of time. What happened to the 15K reserve ???image
  • sinin1sinin1 Posts: 7,500
It was a 15K buy it now which is good until the reserve is met -

I wonder if new bidder 'geraldo_rivera' is related to 'scumbuster'

  • << <i>IF THE RESERVE OF $15,000 IS MET WE WILL SELL THE LOT TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER. GOOD LUCK >>

Looks like false advertising to me....image

Maybe Geraldo will get a nice batch of frankies to burn image
  • sinin1sinin1 Posts: 7,500
Wow, what is currencyville going to do now? They didn't ante up for the 15K reserve and only went for 1K (does anyone know what a $1000 reserve item listing fee would be for eBay? is it 3%?)

If they truly believe it is worth 20-25K are they going to let geraldo_rivera get it for a measly 1K?

gold coins could be a couple mexican Dos Pesos worth $20/ - stamps/wheat cents/ how much silver?

    Will they
    1) let it close
    2) cancel it because of listing error
    3) cancel the bid of geraldo_rivera
  • MadMartyMadMarty Posts: 16,697 ✭✭✭
    THERE ARE 1000'S OF WHEATS

THERE ARE 1000'S OF SILVER COINS

    GOLD COINS

    100'S OF FIRST DAY COVERS

    100'S OF STAMPS

Hmmmmm, I wonder if the safe comes with it!

No, it was embedded in the basement wall. We emptied out the safe at its location.
