If you like a specific design...
Should you worry about getting more than one date? I prize my MS66 1938-D buffalo nickel because I love the design so much, but was wondering- do you think if I were to get another buffalo, should I worry about the date, or just that it's nice? I'm considering an MS65 of the same date...
Thanks for the opinions!

Russ, you know what they say....
"Nothing levels up the ol' 'puter desk like a Frankie under the leg."

The problem is that if I ever moved the desk I'd be left with an ugly impression in the carpet.

Forget I mentioned it.

That's why I buy lots of them; how could I possibly loose?
The problem is $$$. I'm on a low budget, and once you get even to 1935 or 1936 and before, most of the buffs are quite expensive in MS64 or above- I just think that a 64 or above will have the added pazaaz of extra luster/better strike than a lower grade- the 38-D, of course, having pretty much the best strike in the series... maybe I should buy an AG 1926-S and find it upgrades to MS63
Watch it Jeremy, or you'll end up an obsessed, hopeless date/mm collector, and YOU'LL HAVE TO HAVE THEM ALL.

That would be different.
Well, maybe you could try a mintmark set in MS64 like - 1937, 1937-D, and 1937-S. That way you`ll have a 2 year set and a mintmark set ( given that you already have the 38-D ). Or do a Russ style of collecting and collect a majority of a single year just because you enjoy it.
I have a 38-D myself in MS66. Buffalos are a pretty cool coin. Kind of like pugs. There`s alot of design in a small package. Being what I consider a High-Relief type of a coin makes it, at least in my eyes, more appealing.
I guess I can somewhat understand repeatedly buying the same coin, but for me, there would have to be something different about the coin, other than the grade.
I have multiples of 1878 Morgan dollars, but most are distinguishable varieties. When I do wind up with duplicates, I tend to want to keep the best and barter the others away.
Why not just allot what you're currently willing to spend and save until you can get another issue?

Yeah...but who is that guy on the obverse ???
