Photos on registry?

i know I have started a thread on photos before, but do most people use a scanner to scan thier cards, or do they use a digital camera? I don't have a scanner and really don't want to go out and buy even a cheap one(I'd rather use the $$ on cards). I do have a digital camera that works great for taking pics to sell items (mostly raw cards) on ebay, but for some reason I can't get cards in PSA holders to come out right. I've tried it using zoom, on black/white backgrounds and with the flash on and off. I'd like to do pics of my cards.

Any advice?

Thanks

Scanners are fairly cheap now. I use one and place a black background, it makes the card look sharp.

If you do some shopping around, you can find deals with a rebate where you pay almost nothing for the scanner (I've paid more for nice PSA graded commons than I did for my scanner). A scanner is a necessity as far as I'm concerned when it comes to selling cards. Many buyers are turned off by angled digital photos of cards in auctions and will not bid. If you sell regularly, you will pay for the scanner in a short time with the additional money you gain from having a great looking scan in your auction. Plus, you can scan each card you enter into the registry and let everyone else see what you are collecting. image I still wish more set registry members would do this. I have every PSA graded card scanned in my registry sets - front and back (well over 1000 cards now).

  • Scanning works great and certainly helps the sale price of cards.

After you buy a scanner you may need a microscope.

Definately go and buy a scanner. I have both and the camera doesn't do most cards justice.
  • scanner - its cheap and easier than the camera route.

I used a camera for years...but about 6 months ago I broke down and bought a scanner (just for PSA cards). It really is alot easier and the PSA slabs look great. Plus with a scanner you do not get that pesky bend from the lens in your pics.
