I doubt anyone will top Joshua this time

Amazing set of Mercs

It looks like only about 30 dimes are graded higher than his. I am sure he will find ones to match that and have the finest of ALL time soon.

good job and I hope to see the set displayed at a big show sometime.

JB - Even more amazing when you consider he sold a set of Mercs several years ago in a Heritage sale. I'd love to see the collection too, or better yet image it. His Indian cents were displayed at the Sept 2002 Long Beach show and is one of the finest sets going.
  • THE JOSHUA SET WOULD NEED 13 MORE COINS TO BE A PERFECT SET
THIS IS SAME AMOUNT I NEEDED WHEN I SOLD MY SET

IT IS TRULY AN AMAZING SET, IT HAS ALOT OF MY OLD FRIENDS IN IT

Thanks for the nice comments. What I find as funny is that at one point I owned the 25-p,25-S in 67fb and the 39-S in 68FB all pop 1's that I need in my set now and that they will be the stoppers in my set.
If PCGS would arrange it, I would certainly display the set in a similiar format to the showdown held at Long Beach. I'm sure that at some point they will do this.
Paul - after seeing your images of copper coins - I can only imagine what you could do with the mercuries. One of these days we will get together and you can image anything you want.
Bill - I'm keeping your old friends safe with me so they don't go into someone else's set. And I will be adding one more coin in the next couple of days so that I will only need 12 more. You know how much that will mean to me.

A gorgeous set and a great accomplishment. The Joshua set is now only 5 upgrades away from a perfect set.

The Joshua II set is truly amazing. He has added several dimes since this original post, and I have no doubt that if someone can put together the perfect set, he will be the one. I am always amazed when I see that his set has been upgraded. Now you are talking about 5 dimes with a total of what, 13 coins, that can improve his set? There is very little chance of anyone ever besting this set, but second chair in this instance would be an accomplishment also!

My lofty 10 year goal is to make the top 5. It took me about a year to make the top 10, but at this height, the rungs are very very far apart. I have only made it this far this fast because I have had a lot of great help and advice from my fellow Mercateers, thanks guys, I couldn't have done it with out you!!!

While everyone is talking about the mercury dimes, let me say this " the owner himself is a class act and deserves the finest set" I meet him in Baltimore and will never forget himimage
