50 Days for PCGS ECONOMY. How long can it get?

PCGS says there Economy grading service is now 50 Business days. Is this historically long or does it get longer still? I just sent in my first batch and have no experience with them.

  • Is there any partticular reason they don't add more staffing other than "we're PCGS, we don't have to provide faster service."

Are coin graders that rare a breed?

They've added staffing. And last year the economy orders didn't take this long. But now they do.

When PCGS first caught on way back when it would take 3 or 4 months to get coins back.

This is historically long, and their solution is to raise fees and require a minimum number of coins per order.

  • It seems I got modern service not economy, according to the new chart of services in the submission area.

Modern (1965 to date) $12 approximately
15 days maximum value $300 minimum 5 coins

Speaking of which, I got my first NGC coins back yesterday. Picked them up at the post office about 40 minutes ago. Put them in at the Charlotte show on 3/20. Here they are:
