You know, I never thought anybody would steal my auction images.

It's not like I ever sell anything of real value.

The dime, nickel and cent pictured in this auction were lifted from my proof roll auctions.

Gee, I guess I should be flattered.image

I'm gonna steal one of your images as well. For my rusty ugly beat up Kennedy auction.

You know, that coin has actually gotten prettier since it's been in Clark's possession.image

  • Please, Lucy! Your public display of jealousy isn't putting you in a very good light.

(And, quit PMming me with offers for my avatar coin! It's not for sale! Besides, you could buy a whole bucket of those Frankie things you're always gushing over, and still have enough left over for a pitcher of margaritas.)

I've seen some auctions with captions covering just enough of the coins to prevent someone else from using them. Might work for you, Russ.

  • Prey tell, why is it wrong for folk to borrow images if they are selling the same coin...? Remember, all you people with shallow pockets, not everyone may have a camera etc... image

Duncan, they may be the same date and denomination, but they are not the same coin.

For example, if I was bidding on those 3 coins and was willing to go an extra $5 for the blue nickel, I would not be very happy to not get it when they arrived.

Coins can be similar but they are not the same - very deceptive marketing practices without stating this coin pictured may not be coin received.

stealing images from other people is a copyright violation.
  • Duncan,

Also, images are the copyright of their creators (and their licensers, if they bought the image(s)). The folks that put lots of work into their images deserve the credit for the work they do.

Even if a person buys the given coin, they are not also buying the right to all images of it.

This guy's a bit of an idiot. I sent him a "tsk, tsk" eMail, and here's his response in it's entirety:

<< <i>Thanks if that is true...

Huh? He's thanking me for pointing out that he swiped my images?

Hey Ed, are you still stalking Russ?image
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

It's deceptive & misleading. Seller should state that the images are not the actual coins. Seller is not trustworthy and should be avoided/shamed/bankrupted/run out of town on a rail, etc.

    Russ,
The fact it's a cheapie item (and a relatively generic item) is the whole point. Why go to the time and effort of taking your own pretty pics for a $3 item, when you can steal someone else's in no time...

When Buffalo dollars were first issued, I stole someone else's image (this was before I had a digital camera, so hope I'm forgiven), which was then stolen from me.

So, now it's my fault, huh MadMarty? You think I don't know what you are up to? C'mon! There's enough of this baloney going on already. Why do you want to drag me into it?
