Russ, I liked the sunset gold coin which you made in PCGS 65 better but the coin looks like it has nice luster and good technical merit. I just dont happen to like the grape color.

After looking at it for a minute, I'd say that piece is not naturally toned if that pic is accurate.

I think ANACS is good on early die variety attribution, spotting tooled or otherwise messed with coins, and grading circulated coins. As far as grading generic series on grades over MS64, all PL and DMPL, and spotting AT on them, I think they have a weakness, and market pricing reflects this.

You mean you're not overwhelmed by the evidence that the coin is in an ANACS holder? Neither am I.

When I first saw this thread I was reminded of a Morgan that I had for a while. Grape is what reminded me. I still have a photo, the holder is NGC so the background should be white. It is not my best photo. The obverse is darker than the photo and reminds me of grape. There is the lighter area of toning as if rays were coming from Liberty's eyes. The reverse is white.

I'm just curious if anybody thinks this is AT ?

CarlW- I find that coin very attractive and think the toning to be original. A nice crescent shape, due to an overlapping coin. I see blue and sea green. Is the purple or "grape" in that area from 9:00 down to 6:00?

Yes, I remember the coin as grape though the photo seems a little redder than reality. The area from 9 down to 6 was the area that reminded me of grape. But I'm going from a poor memory.
