Looking for info on Topps reprint sets

A few years ago I purchased a set of 1951 Bowman reprints (which PSA will not grade) because I wanted a Mantle rookie in a PSA holder and I could never afford a real one. I know Topps has done other reprints like 1953 and I think 1952.

I have seen some reprints of these cards but they have this lousy emblem on the front. I like the 51 Bowman reprints because they look like the real thing (except the back which says reprint). Are there 52 and/or 53 reprints (Mantle in particular) without emblems on the front? I know there was a 52 reprint done for a certain National Convention years ago.

Any information on this subject or where I might find such cards would be greatly appreciated. I am working on an unregistered (unless I win the lottery) Basic Mantle set in PSA 8 and can't go as high as the 51, 52, and 53 get.

Thanks again for any input.

    BillBob,

Funny you should mention reprints...I spent a few hours debating if I should buy a 1983 Topps reprint set of 1952 Topps Baseball. The dealer at the Strongsville show almost had a sale but I couldn't pull the trigger. If you're interested, maybe I can put you in touch with him.

I have reprint sets of 1952, 1953 and 1954 Topps BB, among about 8 or 9 reprint sets total. They are affordable and offer a chance to have many classic cards in the standard size and better paper stock then the originals.

There is nothing like the real thing of course, The 52 and 53 Mantles are without any emblem or logo and are a bit smaller and more glossy than the originals. The three sets all have some exceptions/ommisions differeing slighly from the real set.
This aint no party,... this aint no disco,.. this aint no fooling around.
