A DAY AT THE SWAPMEET

Every once in a while you can find a decent buy at the Swapmeet here in Prescott Valley, AZ. I picked up this Stone Mountain (ANACS-63, solid. The scratches are on the plastic, not the coin.) A nice golden, with touches of red and blue.

And an 1892 Columbian half in AU-50 from the same guy. Have had many a '93, but never had a '92.

  • 2D,

That is a very nice coin (cool to find at a swapmeet!) I had never seen the reverse of that one. It's pretty cool. Of course, I'm partial to eagles on coins, too.
  • Me too, on liking eagles. The Obverse is a really sharp strike. I think the weak strike on the reverse, especially on the eagle's right wing keeps it at 63. Even with a 10X, I don't see any really detracting marks

  • I know they aren't rare, but the color grabbed me and the price was right. I am still having trouble getting the colors right in my photos. Using the sun as a lighting tool washes out the subtle tones.
